Tool Introduction
This is a digital coin flip: click the coin, press Flip again, or hit Space or Enter, and it spins to a genuinely random heads or tails result. Each outcome is drawn independently with a 50/50 chance, using your browser's cryptographic random number generator so the result cannot be predicted or nudged. Beyond a single flip, you can flip a batch of coins at once, relabel the two sides for your own use case, and keep track of your results for the current session.
How to Use the Coin Flip Tool
- Click the coin, click "Flip again," or press Space or Enter
- Watch the coin spin and read the result in large text underneath
- Optionally turn on custom labels to replace "Heads" and "Tails" with your own text
- Set a number from 2 to 100 and click "Flip N coins" to flip a batch at once
- Check the tally and the list of individual results for the batch
- Watch your running session stats, and use "Reset stats" to start over
Use Cases: Coin Flip Made Easy
- Decide a coin toss for a game, sports match, or who goes first
- Settle a small disagreement or a two-option decision quickly
- Teach or demonstrate basic probability with a real, visible random event
- Run a batch of flips to check how results distribute over a larger sample
- Relabel the sides to flip between any two custom options, not just heads and tails
More Random Pickers
Need more than two outcomes? The Yes or No Wheel handles yes-or-no questions with a spinning wheel, the Spin the Wheel tool lets you type in any list of options, and the Random Number Wheel draws a number from a range you choose.
FAQs
Is this coin flip truly random, 50/50?
Yes. Each flip draws from your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), with a plain random fallback if that is unavailable. Every flip has an independent 50% chance of heads and 50% chance of tails, no matter what came before.
Can the result be rigged or predicted?
No. The result is decided the instant you click, before the coin animation even starts, and the animation always shows the face that was actually drawn. There is no way to influence or predict the outcome from the page.
Can I use this to make a real decision, like in sports or games?
Yes, it works well for coin toss situations such as who goes first, choosing sides, or settling a disagreement. Since everyone can watch the same flip happen live, it is a fair, neutral way to decide.
What is multi-flip mode for?
Multi-flip lets you flip anywhere from 2 to 100 coins at once instead of one at a time. It is useful for classroom demonstrations, probability exercises, or quickly checking that results even out close to 50/50 over a larger sample.
Are my flip results stored or sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser. The session stats (total flips, heads, tails) exist only in memory for your current visit, nothing is saved to a server or a file, and closing or reloading the page clears them.
Can I change what the two sides say?
Yes, turn on "Use custom labels" and type your own text for each side, up to 12 characters each, for example to flip between two options instead of heads and tails.
