Tool Introduction
The Name Wheel is a random name picker built for classrooms, raffles, team meetings, and any moment you need to choose one person from a group without playing favorites. Paste in your list of names, spin, and the wheel highlights a winner at random, with the picked name removed from the wheel by default so you can keep spinning through the whole group, one name at a time, without repeats.
How to Use the Name Wheel
- Paste or type your list of names, one name per line
- Check the entry count matches the number of people in your group
- Leave "Remove winner after spin" on to go through the whole list, or turn it off
- Use "Shuffle order" if you want the slices arranged differently first
- Click the wheel or press SPIN (Space/Enter also works) to pick a name
- Review past picks in the results history, or share the list via a link
Use Cases: Classrooms, Raffles, and Team Picks
- Call on students randomly during class discussions or quizzes
- Draw raffle or giveaway winners from a list of participants
- Decide speaking or presentation order for a meeting or workshop
- Pick who goes first in a game, chore rotation, or turn-based activity
- Randomly assign a task, seat, or role to each person in a group
More Wheels
Need something else? The Spin the Wheel tool handles any list of options, not just names. Use the Yes or No Wheel for a quick decision, or the Random Number Wheel to draw a number. If you want to split your whole group into teams instead of picking one winner, try the Random Group Generator, or shuffle the full list at once.
FAQs
Is the Name Wheel free to use?
Yes, the Name Wheel is free, requires no sign-up, and runs entirely in your browser.
How many names can I add?
You can paste up to 200 names, one per line. The wheel automatically shows how many entries you have so you can double-check your list.
Why is "Remove winner after spin" on by default?
Name pickers are usually used to go through a whole group, one person at a time, so each name that wins is removed automatically. You can turn this off if you want repeat picks to stay possible.
Can duplicate names be on the wheel at the same time?
Yes, the tool does not remove duplicates automatically. If you want every person to have exactly one slice, make sure each name appears once in your list.
Can I reuse the same list of names later?
Yes, use "Copy share link" to get a URL with your current names encoded in it. Opening that link loads the same list back into the wheel.
Is this good for classroom or team use?
Yes, teachers and team leads use it to call on students at random, assign presentation order, or pick who goes first, all visibly and fairly.
