Back Up Your Guides

Backups save each guide as a .flgg file. Restore them later, or on a different computer.

Back Up Everything

  1. In the guides list, click Backup.
  2. Choose Backup from the menu.Folge asks where to save, then writes one file for each guide.
  3. Pick a folder you actually back up: a synced folder or an external drive.

One .flgg file per guide, containing its steps, screenshots and annotations. Your guides live on your own machine, not in a vendor cloud: Folge is an offline documentation tool.

Folge can run backups on a schedule, so you do not have to remember.

  1. Click Backup, then Setup automated backups.
  2. Turn automated backups on.
  3. Choose how often to run, and the folder to write into.
Tip: Point it at a synced folderPick your Dropbox or OneDrive folder and each backup syncs off this machine.
Note: By default every run keeps a timestamped copy, which grows over time. Turn on overwrite mode to keep a single up-to-date file per guide instead.

Getting Your Guides Back

  1. In the guides list, click Restore.
  2. Select the .flgg files you want to bring back.
  3. Confirm whether to add them as new guides or replace what is there.The guides reappear in your list with their steps and screenshots intact.

This is also how you move your guides to a new computer.
